Q: What attracted you to Rice University's Master of Global Affairs program?
A; I was attracted to the MGA program at Rice because of its interdisciplinary curriculum and strong emphasis on practical, real-world application. The opportunity to study global issues through policy, economics, and security perspectives—while working closely with faculty and peers in a collaborative setting—made the program a strong fit for my academic interests and career aspirations at the time.
Q: What was your career like prior to the MGA program?
A: Prior to the MGA program, I worked in both the government and private sectors, gaining early exposure to public–private collaboration. I later joined Saudi Aramco, where I was involved in a giga-scale project that required extensive coordination with multinational teams and stakeholders. This experience highlighted the importance of global communication, cultural awareness, and strategic decision-making, and ultimately motivated me to pursue the MGA to deepen my understanding of international affairs.
Q: Where are you now in your work and what do you do?
A: I currently work as a Supplier Fulfillment Manager at Baker Hughes, where I manage supplier performance and coordination across complex, international supply chains. My role involves working closely with cross-functional and global stakeholders to ensure timely delivery, resolve issues, and support large-scale energy projects.
Q: What was the highlight/most memorable moment of your experience in the MGA program?
A: The highlight of the MGA program for me was the people. The faculty were deeply engaged and approachable, my classmates brought diverse global and professional perspectives, and the MGA staff were consistently supportive. That strong sense of community fostered meaningful discussions, collaboration, and relationships that extended well beyond the classroom.
Q: What was your favorite class in the MGA program?
A: Every class in the MGA program contributed to my growth, from Macroeconomics, which strengthened my analytical foundation, to Middle East Security, Institutions & Development, International Security, Global Systems and Issues in Contemporary U.S. Foreign Policy, which broadened my understanding of global systems and complex international challenges. However, If I had to choose one, it would be Energy Policy, because having worked in the energy sector and aspiring to continue in it, this class provided unique insights that directly connected to my professional interests and goals.
